Towson University reports shooting at Cardiff Hall Apartments, issues shelter-in-place alert
Baltimore County police say injured man taken to hospital
TOWSON, Md. —
Baltimore County police are investigating a shooting that has left a man injured Sunday evening and the Towson University campus on alert.
According to police, officers are investigating a shooting in the 8000 block of York Road. A man was taken to a hospital for treatment of his injuries. Authorities are asking people to avoid the area.
A shelter-in-place alert was issued Sunday night campuswide at Towson University, which advised of an emergency situation in which everyone on campus was advised to shelter in place, close windows and doors.
TU Public Safety sent an alert to the campus community at 7:20 p.m. reporting a shooting at 8013 York Road.
Shortly before 8:30 p.m., the university sent an email notice to community members, saying a shooting investigation was underway at the Cardiff Hall Apartments, and there was police activity in the area amid a search for suspect(s).
The university reported additional police activity on campus near Osler Drive that was related to the shooting.
No further information was immediately released.
