The United States is an ally of Israel. We have their back, and yet they make themselves a bigger target.
Brutality is jungle justice. Jungle justice only begets more brutality. Jungle justice has no respect for individual lives.
An eye for an eye is not enough. Killing innocent women and children, bombing hospitals, killing volunteers who come to feed the starving and treat the wounded, killing reporters, treating innocent people like cattle, upending tent villages with orders to move so they can bomb cities to rubble. Israel is doing this with impunity. It seems for Israel, annihilating every one of its enemies is the only way to victory.
We are allies of Israel. We have their backs.
Israel owes us respect for all we stand for. Our Constitution is meant to make real the belief all men are equal. Israel needs our strength to be safe. We are weakened when we aid a government that commits atrocities.
Are we becoming more like them?
Are we being defined as like them?
Are we a party to brutality?
If the answer is yes to all of the above, it is time to expect Israel to honor the principles of the United States.
