Katy Perry moved on from her Orlando Bloom split pretty fast, with the singer being seen having dinner with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau pretty soon after her June split from Bloom. However, things between the pair have reportedly already “cooled off” due to their busy schedules and Trudeau being uncomfortable with the spotlight.
In fact, a source tells People that, even though Trudeau attended one of Perry’s concerts after their first date, this isn’t a full-blown relationship.

“They had a casual first get-to-know-you date,” the source said. “And although they have shared interests and plenty to talk about, dating just isn’t on her radar. She’s stayed in touch with Justin, but there are no current plans for another meet-up.”
Perry and Trudeau reportedly shared an “instant connection,” according to the outlet, with a source saying at the time, “They are interested in each other, but it will take a while to see where this goes.” That source also added. “She is traveling around the world, and he is figuring out his life now that he is no longer prime minister of Canada, but there is an attraction. They have a lot in common.”
Soon, however, the Daily Mail reported their communication had “waned in the past two weeks.”
“She’s busy, he’s busy,” a source revealed to the outlet, adding that though the two talked “nonstop” in July, “they have a lot going on, and the newness has worn off.” No one’s mad about it, it seems. “There’s nothing negative about it,” the insider said. “They just aren’t in constant communication anymore. That could change, but for now, it is what it is. It has cooled off.”
This all comes as things with ex-Orlando Bloom are at a really low point. The two, who dated for approximately nine years and share one daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom, split in June 2025 after reports there were multiple breakups and things weren’t doing that well before their final split. And even when they did break up, there was drama, like Bloom attending the wedding of Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sanchez, who were more Perry’s friends than his, solo.
But the drama gets worse. OK! UK reported that Perry felt “humiliated” after Bloom responded to an Onion article that obliquely referenced her romance with Justin Trudeau by joking about a possible romance between Bloom and Angela Merkel with clapping emojis.
“Katy feels very let down and humiliated by Orlando, but she’s also realising that he wasn’t the right person for her. He’s showing his true colours and it’s really very hurtful and spiteful to her, especially as it probably means the end of any possible friendship with him in future,” the insider said. “She hoped they’d both be mature after the break-up so she’s feeling really disappointed.”
Considering the two share a daughter, they’re probably going to have to find a way to get along, one way or another. As for Katy Perry and Justin Trudeau, well, that might just go down in history as a quick fling that was never going to last long.
