Woman killed in shooting outside Urban Air in Arden-Arcade identified
The woman killed in a shooting outside the Urban Air trampoline park in the Arden-Arcade area has been identified.
The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office identified the woman on Monday as 29-year-old Samantha Sue Cromwell.
Sacramento police said officers responded to the 1700 block of Arden Way around 3:30 p.m. on Saturday and found two shooting victims at the scene. Cromwell was pronounced dead at the scene and another woman was taken to a hospital in the area.
Cromwell was at Urban Air on Saturday to celebrate her son’s 8th birthday. Her family is remembering her as a vibrant and loving mother.
“She loved her son more so than anything in the world, ” her stepfather, Cedric Ward, said. “She loved my grandson DJ. She would, you know, scorch the earth for him. You know that was her pride and joy. Everything was DJ.”
On Sunday, police said 36-year-old Edward Tucker was booked into the Sacramento County Main Jail on homicide charges.
Ward said Tucker was her husband, but he believes she had been trying to leave him when she was killed.
“I still don’t know how he located her over there,” Ward said. “I don’t wish this pain on anyone.”

The second woman who was injured in the shooting is still in the hospital in critical condition, according to Sacramento Police.
Bonita Lopez, who was inside Urban Air at the time, told KCRA 3’s Denzen Cortez the business was crowded with children and families attending birthday parties when she heard the shots. “It was scary. It was very scary,” Lopez said.
The shooting is still under investigation.
According to jail records, Tucker, who is from Fresno, is ineligible for bail.
