‘I know I can buy anything I want, but I’m still taking some time to decide,’ says winner Amritpal S.
A Metro Vancouver man doesn’t need to work another day in his life after winning a massive jackpot. But he says he’s focused on getting a new sweet ride, a house and helping his family.
Amritpal S. just won the $32-million Gold Ball Jackpot from the Sept. 19 Lotto 6/49 draw. He bought the life-changing ticket at 7-Eleven on 152 Street and 104 Avenue in Surrey.
It was a busy day when the White Rock resident went home to relax and discovered the incredible win.
Amritpal S. noticed there was a big lottery win in Surrey and scanned his ticket.
“I checked my ticket in the car, using the [BCLC Lotto! Mobile] app,” he recalls. “I saw the amount and was confused. I read $32,000 and used other phones to check. I couldn’t process it!”
The lucky local’s sister received the first call about the big news. She was eating dinner when he rang her up.
“My sister was the first person I told. She was speechless and started crying,” he says.
While he hasn’t decided what to do with all of his winnings, he wants to buy a house and a few cars while helping his parents and sister.
“I know I can buy anything I want, but I’m still taking some time to decide. My dream car is a Dodge Challenger, though,” he says. “I’m so happy! This will change my life.”
Amritpal S. completed his prize claim at BCLC’s Vancouver office on Sept. 23.
