The City of Montreal has inaugurated what it’s describing as the largest indoor aquatic complex in the West Island.
The new facility in Pierrefonds-Roxboro includes a 25-metre eight-lane swimming pool with one-metre and three-metre diving boards as well as a recreational pool with a wading area, slide and water play features. There is also a steam room and other facilities.

Open swimming at the complex is scheduled to begin this fall, the city said in a statement, with other programming gradually beginning over the course of the coming months.
Access is free for all residents of Montreal.
The city says it spent $66 million, along with $7.5 million from the province, to build the pool.
The facility uses geothermic heating to reduce power usage, and the city says the facility’s water-management and filtration systems will reduce its use of potable water.
