Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps is urging Americans to “take back control” from President Donald Trump, directly appealing to U.S. voters as the administration’s war against Tehran enters its eighth calendar month.
In a lengthy open letter addressed to the American people, the IRGC accused Trump of pursuing a war that has failed to achieve its objectives and called on Americans to oppose his policies ahead of the November midterm elections.
“You are the ones who empower, with your votes, those who make decisions in your name,” the letter says, according to published excerpts.
“Take back control,” it urges.
The extraordinary appeal comes as the United States continues its military and economic pressure campaign against Iran while seeking to force Tehran to make concessions on its nuclear program and other security issues.
The Associated Press reported Tuesday that an IRGC spokesman also urged Americans to protest Trump and said his Middle East policies had failed. The comments came as Washington announced another round of sanctions targeting individuals and entities accused of supporting Iran’s military supply chain.
The Revolutionary Guard’s letter seeks to distinguish the Iranian government’s hostility toward the United States from its message to ordinary Americans.
“We share the same pain,” the letter says.
It portrays American voters as victims of policies being carried out in their name and urges them to challenge the administration through political action.
The letter also addresses one of the most recognizable slogans associated with Iran’s revolutionary government: “Death to America.”
“‘Death to America’ is a prayer for the eradication of the diabolical ruling elite whose seat of power is the White House,” the letter says, according to the published text.
The statement comes after months of U.S. and Israeli military action against Iran, including strikes aimed at Iranian military and nuclear facilities.
Iran has continued to resist U.S. demands while the conflict has disrupted energy markets and placed the Strait of Hormuz at the center of the confrontation.
The strait is one of the world’s most important energy chokepoints, and efforts to reopen and secure the waterway have become a major component of diplomatic discussions involving Iran, the United States and Gulf nations.
The Trump administration has also pursued an aggressive economic campaign against Tehran, imposing sanctions intended to restrict Iran’s access to revenue and weaken the networks supporting its military capabilities.
Washington has maintained that its pressure campaign is intended to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and to address broader threats posed by the Iranian regime and its military and proxy network.
Iran, meanwhile, has portrayed the U.S. campaign as an attack on its sovereignty and has repeatedly rejected Trump’s demands.
The IRGC letter claims that the United States and Israel “failed to achieve any of their declared objectives,” according to published excerpts, while portraying Iran’s ability to continue resisting as evidence that the campaign has not produced the outcome Washington sought.
The letter’s direct appeal to American voters represents an unusual effort by Iran’s military establishment to insert itself into U.S. domestic political debate.
Its timing is particularly notable because the United States is approaching the 2026 midterm elections, when control of Congress will be contested.
The IRGC is the military force created after Iran’s 1979 Islamic Revolution and operates separately from Iran’s conventional military. It has major influence over Iran’s security policy and has played a central role in the country’s regional military operations.
The United States designated the IRGC as a foreign terrorist organization in 2019.
The IRGC letter nevertheless frames the confrontation in explicitly political terms, telling Americans that the power to change U.S. policy ultimately rests with voters and calling on them to “take back control.”
