Donald Trump is now signing an executive order to officially change the name of artificial intelligence to “super intelligence”.
He declared at the United Nations last week that he preferred the name over AI, saying he would be renaming it because it “sounds much better” and is more accurate.
During today’s announcement, the US president said he spoke to Xi Jinping about the name and claims “he loves it”.
“When you say artificial intelligence, it’s artificial. This isn’t, this is extreme intelligence, it’s superior intelligence. It’s supreme,” Trump added.
“But the word super is the best word of all. And it’s the simplest and so we’re going to be naming it super intelligence.”
Trump compared the term “artificial intelligence” to “fake news”, before turning his fire on the assembled media, saying: “I could call them artificial”.
“I think I found a new name… Fake news is one of my great terms, but now I’m going to call them artificial news.”
