A 57-year-old man is dead after a cement truck rolled over on a Highway 401 ramp in Scarborough on Tuesday morning, police say.
The fatal collision happened on the on-ramp from Kennedy Road northbound to Highway 401 eastbound, according to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP). Police responded at about 9:20 a.m.
No other vehicles were involved in the crash, the OPP said in a news release Tuesday. The cement truck driver, a Scarborough resident, was the sole occupant of the truck, police said.
Toronto paramedics said they took the man to a local trauma centre with life-threatening injuries. Police said the man was pronounced dead there.
Officers have closed the on-ramp from northbound Kennedy Road to eastbound Highway 401 as they continue to investigate the crash.
Anyone who witnessed the crash or has dashboard camera footage of the area at the time is urged to come forward to the Toronto OPP.
