SAN FRANCISCO (KGO) — San Francisco crews are responding to reported vault fires and minor explosions in the Financial District Thursday morning.

This has prompted a shelter-in-place order for the area near the intersection of California and Front Streets. It has expanded to the 100 to 300 blocks of California Street and 100 to 300 blocks of Front Street.

The San Francisco Fire Department is investigating a possible vault fire at 150 California Street, reported around 6:30 a.m.

There were reports of smoke in a basement and there is a power outage because of that.

Witnesses say they have heard at least two explosions, which firefighters have confirmed.

Officials say PG&E, which is on scene, is shutting down additional power, which will affect more locations.

No injuries have been reported but the public is advised to avoid the affected area.
