A truck driver is in critical condition after colliding with a barrier on Auckland’s north-western motorway this morning.
The crash occurred at around 8.40am when the truck hit the barrier in the westbound lanes of State Highway 16 before the Brigham Creek Road roundabout near Whenuapai.
“The truck driver is currently in a critical condition,” police said.
Police said at around 10.25am that a section of the motorway was being closed in both directions between Hobsonville and Brigham Creek roads.
“Significant delays are expected while the truck is removed and debris cleared.
“Please allow additional time to reach your destination today.”
The serious crash unit and commercial vehicle safety team had been advised.
