The Eden Prairie High School homecoming game was evacuated Friday night after a shooting at the game that left two people with non-life-threatening injuries.

In a late Friday night update, police said the people who were shot were not students at Eden Prairie or Minnetonka schools. Police said they believe the shooting was targeted, and no arrests have been made at this time.

What happened?

Eden Prairie Police Chief Matt Sackett said officers were already on scene to help with the game when they were called to the outside of the football stadium on the north side of the high school around 8:40 p.m. for a “disturbance,” which later turned into a shooting.

Eden Prairie Schools says police evacuated the area and directed parents and students to a reunification point.

School officials initially said the reunification spot is at Round Lake Park. As of 9:52 p.m., officials are directing football players, marching band students, and any new students and families arriving to Round Lake Park to go to the pavilion south of the tennis courts.

School officials said people who need to be picked up can also exit the campus from the baseball diamonds.

Eden Prairie police say the area is secure and evacuations are still ongoing, as of 9:45 p.m. Students inside the building were put on a hold for about an hour after the incident, but have since been released.
