Since the start of the Israel-Hamas War on October 7, 2023, 1,318 members of Israel’s security forces have fallen in the conflict, according to data published by the Families, Commemoration, and Heritage Department of the Defense Ministry on Sunday.

The number includes fallen personnel from the IDF, Israel Police, Shin Bet (Israel Security Agency), Fire and Rescue Services, security coordinators, and local response team members.

The numbers account for the fallen across all fronts, including the Gaza Strip, Lebanon, and the West Bank.

More than 7,150 people have been officially recognized as relatives who lost someone in service since the start of the war, including 2,143 bereaved parents, 355 widows, and 880 orphans.

3,772 people lost a sibling in the war.

Despite the ceasefire that took effect in the Gaza Strip on October 10, 2025, a number of Israeli soldiers have been killed in incidents along the Yellow Line that delineates the buffer zone within the strip.

Last week, two IDF soldiers were killed when a drone that they were operating landed and exploded within their military outpost in the northern Gaza Strip.

The soldiers, who were reservists serving as part of the 16th Brigade, were initially evacuated to Barzilai Medical Center in Ashkelon but were pronounced dead.

The two soldiers were Maj. (Res.) Nadav Kali, 24, from Har Halutz, and Maj. (Res.) Ofek Moalem, 23, from Jerusalem.
