(NewsNation) — A U.S. official tells NewsNation that two members of Iran’s UNGA delegation were kicked out of the country Saturday after they were asked to leave days before.
The official said the two Iranian diplomats did not obey the State Department’s Monday demand that the entire Iranian mission to the UN delegation leave the country immediately.
“Secretary Rubio means business. Two more members of the Iranian delegation were found still in New York long after the UN General Assembly had passed. They have now been kicked out of the country,” the official said.
Iran to increase speed, range of missiles
Iran will extend the speed and range of its missiles, Army spokesperson Mohammad Akraminia told Fars News Agency Sunday.
“During this war, we concluded that we absolutely must increase the range of our missiles, and we have now moved in that direction,” Akraminia said.
The move is in response to American forces positioning themselves 621 miles from the Iranian coast.
US proposal similar to past ones, Iran spokesperson says
In response to the United States’ rejection of Iran’s proposed seven-day plan to reopen the Strait of Hormuz, Tehran has clarified its position via mediators.
Additional points are still to be communicated, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei told reporters in a briefing on Sunday.
The U.S. proposal, which focuses on the nuclear file, is similar to past ones, according to Baghaei. Tehran wants to focus on the Strait of Hormuz.
The return of International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors to Iran has not been discussed. IAEA verifies that nuclear material is used in peaceful ways through a series of safeguards.
