Peel police arrested 25-year-old Ethan Tolander and seized his blue BMW 340i as part of an ongoing investigation into organized street racing.
A Toronto man is facing several charges for his alleged involvement in organized street racing in Peel Region.
The arrest comes after Peel Regional Police identified a suspect operating a blue BMW 340i at several illegal street races earlier this year.
On Oct. 1, members of the Safer Roads Team (SRT) executed a Criminal Code search warrant at a residence in Toronto and 25-year-old Ethan Tolander, of Toronto.
They also seized a blue BMW 340i as well as other items as evidence related to this investigation.
Tolander is facing one count each of disguise with intent and flight from peace officer, three counts of fail to comply with release order, five counts of possession property obtained by crime, and seven counts each of dangerous operation and race a motor vehicle. The charges have not been tested in court.
Additional charges may be laid, police said.
The accused was held for a bail hearing.
This ongoing investigation is part of Project ERASE, a province-wide initiative that targets street racing, stunt driving, and illegal car rallies. It is delivered in partnership with GTA police services and includes an annual joint-forces enforcement effort between May and June. Peel Regional Police say they conduct enforcement year-round.
