A days-long search off Nantucket for a missing medical jet has been called off, CBS News reports. The Coast Guard on Sunday suspended efforts to find six people aboard a Canadian-registered Gulfstream G-100 that vanished early Saturday en route from Bermuda to Boston. A debris field from the air ambulance was located Saturday night off the coast of Nantucket in 80 to 90 feet of water, the New York Times reports, but crews scouring more than 4,400 square miles over roughly 66 hours found no survivors.

Four Canadians and two Bermudian nationals were on board, including four crew and two passengers; families have been notified. Flight data show the plane plummeted from about 24,000 feet to 11,000 feet before contact was lost around 1am local time. A storm was looming ahead of the flight when the pilot reported electrical problems and declared an emergency; air traffic audio indicates the jet was flying “blind,” or without instruments, the AP reports,. Multiple aircraft and vessels were deployed in the search. The NTSB is monitoring, and recovered debris is being secured for investigators.
