Anyone who was surprised by Attorney General Gali Baharav-Miara’s request that the Supreme Court uphold Sami Abu Shehadeh’s disqualification as a Knesset candidate apparently hasn’t been following Israel’s enforcement policy against crimes of expression since October 7, 2023. Her position is in line with the law enforcement system’s policy throughout the last three years. And in many ways, it’s an obvious consequence of that policy.
