Police later confirmed to CJME News the collision involved a vehicle striking a pedestrian. Northbound traffic on Ring Road was shut down in the area.

The incident is the latest involving a pedestrian, cyclist or e-scooter rider being struck by a vehicle on Regina streets.

According to police, just before 8 a.m. Thursday, officers were called to the intersection of 7th Avenue and Albert Street after a female pedestrian was reportedly struck by a vehicle. The victim was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

A collision involving a cyclist and a vehicle near McCarthy Boulevard and Read Avenue was reported Sept. 30. The cyclist sustained minor injuries and was not taken to hospital, police said.

Later that afternoon, police attended another collision involving a cyclist and a vehicle near Quance Street East and Coleman Street. The cyclist was taken to hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The investigation is ongoing.

According to police, there were 10 crashes involving vehicles and pedestrians, cyclists or e-bike riders during the 10 days leading up to Wednesday, resulting in one fatality and multiple injuries.

During an appearance on The Evan Bray Show on Thursday, Regina Police Chief Lorilee Davies said 69 drivers in Regina were ticketed during a recent enforcement project tied to a spike in pedestrian crashes.

For the police chief, even more concerning was driver behaviour in school zones. Davies said traffic officers issued 41 speeding tickets in one school zone during the project.
