Officers have arrested a man on suspicion of murder and he is in custody after a person was found dead in a property in Bryngs Drive.
Police were called at around 11.35am on Wednesday, October 7, 2026, following reports of a concern for welfare.
On arrival, officers discovered a person who had died.
Formal identification has not yet taken place, but police say they are in contact with a potential next of kin.
Detective Chief Inspector Zed Ali, from Greater Manchester Police’s Major Incident Team, said: “I would like to express my deepest condolences to the family of the deceased during this incredibly difficult time.
“My team and I are trying to establish the full facts relating to this incident, but we believe both the suspect and the victim were known to each other.
“I would like to reassure the community in Bolton that there is no wider risk to them.
“A scene remains in place while officers continue their investigations in relation to this job.
“If anyone has any concerns, please speak to them, as they are there to provide reassurance and be a friendly face out in the community.”
The arrested man, who is in his 60s, remains in police custody for questioning.
A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police confirmed that a murder investigation has been launched and that officers from the Major Incident Team are leading the inquiry.
