The humorist Tom Lehrer once quipped that satire died when Henry Kissinger won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1973. Apparently the Nobel committee never received the memo, because it murdered satire once again. On Friday the panel awarded its peace prize to the octogenarian antisemite, Navi Pillay.
Jonathan Swift himself could not conjure a greater irony than bestowing a peace prize on Pillay. She was the head of a kangaroo commission that in 2025 concluded Israel had committed a genocide by defending itself after the October 7, 2023, massacre unleashed against it.
