She said the investigation was in its early stages and the arrested man remains in police custody “while we seek to gain an understanding of this tragic incident”.
“We would like to offer our sincere condolences to the woman’s grieving family at what will be a devastating time for them, and specially trained officers will provide them with ongoing support,” she said.
More police officers will be in the area while enquiries continue, and they will also provide reassurance to the public, she added.
