Head coach Mike Babcock told reporters he is looking for a “more assertive” game from Mukhamadullin, who will have an opportunity to show what he can bring to Edmonton’s defence against the San Jose Sharks on Rogers Saturday Night Hockey (Sportsnet, Sportsnet+, 4 p.m. ET / 2 p.m. MT).
Up front, Filip Hallander will draw into the lineup, while Max Jones will come out.
Hallander will make his debut after being acquired from the Pittsburgh Penguins on Wednesday in exchange for defenceman Spencer Stastney.
The move comes as the Oilers deal with injuries to several forwards, including Ryan Nugent-Hopkins, Zach Hyman, Matthew Savoie, Jason Dickinson and Mattias Janmark.
The 26-year-old Hallander had a goal and two assists in two games with Pittsburgh this season.
