The Pentagon on Friday updated the number of U.S. troops who have died during operations related to the war against Iran to 21.

That total includes two more noncombat deaths from the previous update on the Pentagon’s reporting database, the Defense Casualty Analysis System.

Additionally, 865 American service members have been wounded.

According to the Washington Post, citing a U.S. official, the two deaths were Maj. Sorffly Davius, 46, an Army National Guard member who died in Kuwait on March 6, and an unidentified Navy suicide that occurred in September.

Davius’s death had previously been reported but not included in the official toll.

The military has divided casualties from the war against Iran into two categories following a pause and subsequent resumption of large-scale hostilities.

The first, Operation Epic Fury, began with U.S. and Israeli strikes on Iran on Feb. 28. It counts 15 deaths and 417 wounded.

The second category, “overseas operations,” covers casualties since July 7. It lists six deaths and 448 wounded.

A Pentagon official told The Associated Press in July that the latter category was created because Operation Epic Fury had concluded and that casualties associated with the renewed fighting would instead be recorded under the new designation.
