A well-known Iranian photojournalist has been held in custody in the country without charge for more than a month.
Majid Saeedi was arrested on September 9, and nothing has been heard of him since, the Committee to Protect Journalists (CPJ) said on Sunday.
There has been no information as to which security agency is holding him, and it has remained unclear where he is being held, the CPJ said.
Citing Saeedi’s brother, the organization said that the news photographer was arrested at his home, and that the charges against him remain unclear.
The Iranian judiciary has not yet released any information on the case.
At the end of September, the ISNA news agency reported that the Iranian Press Photographers’ Association had called for clarification and for him to be released.
Over the weekend, well-known Iranian photographers drew attention to the case of their award-winning colleague on social media.
Saeedi, who had most recently been working as a freelancer, has been arrested several times in the past.
