Two ships sank in the Strait of Hormuz this week after being hit by Iranian attacks amid an escalation in violence in the critical waterway.

A Singapore-registered container ship, the GFS Pride, was attacked while transiting the strait on Tuesday, according to a statement from the Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore. The vessel caught fire after the attack, the statement said, but all crew members were evacuated and no injuries were reported.
