President Donald Trump said the Iran war will “end very quickly” after the midterms, saying Iranian officials are now seeking assurances that they will be allowed to live.
“Their leaders are gone,” Trump said during a campaign rally in Kalispell, Montana, on Wednesday night. “I should have probably left the leaders because I don’t know who we’re negotiating with.”
Trump said Iran’s “first string leaders are all gone,” along with its “second string leaders” and half of its “third string leaders.”
“And now their main thing that they ask in negotiation is, will you please allow us to live?” Trump said. “They don’t want us to go after them.”
Trump added that the conflict would soon conclude “one way or the other,” predicting that oil prices would fall sharply afterward.
“It’s going to end very quickly,” Trump said. “And when that happens, the oil is going to come way down.”
Trump also made a midterm campaign rally stop earlier Wednesday in Arizona, where he boldly suggested treason and firing squad for military leaders who leak war secrets to the media.
