Central Saanich Police say a woman who was found dead at a waste disposal facility on Tuesday has been identified, and that the investigation remains ongoing.

Police initially asked for help identifying the woman who was found on the morning of Oct. 13 at DL Bins. One day later, police say she has been identified and efforts are underway to notify her next of kin.

“Investigators thank the public for their attention and response to this matter,” said Central Saanich Police in an update Wednesday.

DL Bins temporarily closed its gates on Tuesday, before reopening Wednesday.

“Thank you for your patience and understanding. Our thoughts are with the family members of those who go missing throughout Vancouver Island.”

The Vancouver Island Integrated Major Crime Unit is heading the investigation, with support from Central Saanich Police.

The investigation is ongoing, and police say any further details “will be released when appropriate.”
