Four men are facing charges following a four-month drug trafficking investigation that Calgary police say resulted in one of the largest drug seizures in the service’s history.
The investigation began in June 2026 after police identified a home believed to be connected to drug trafficking.
“This is one of the largest drug seizures in CPS history and represents a significant disruption to a drug trafficking network operating in Calgary,” said CPS Acting Chief Asif Rahid in a statement.
Investigators allege the suspects were operating a drug distribution network in Calgary and Edmonton, and the probe involved 16 Calgary Police Service units, with assistance from the Edmonton Police Service, RCMP and the Canada Border Services Agency.
During the investigation, officers obtained 18 judicial authorizations and executed nine search warrants. The search warrants were carried out at five residences, including four in Calgary and one in Cochrane.
As a result of the searches, officers seized:
40.3 kilograms of cocaine
6.9 kilograms of MDMA
4.3 kilograms of methamphetamine
1.6 kilograms of fentanyl
654 grams of crack cocaine
31 grams of ketamine
298,452 prescription pills, including Xanax, codeine, oxycodone, Percocet, Dilaudid and cychlorphine
More than $2 million in Canadian and U.S. currency
Police estimate the total value of the seized drugs at approximately $6.8 million.

“The drug economy is a supply and demand market in Calgary,” said CPS Supt. Jeff Bell. “That means that when we take this away, it increases demand but it also means there’s greater opportunity for the Calgary Police Service to do other investigations and try to suppress what is happening.”
Investigators believe most of the drugs came from outside of Canada. Bell said a lot of the cocaine is suspected to have come from Colombia.
The four accused are Tomas Bahta, 19, of Calgary, Mohammed Ibrahim, 31, of Calgary, Fozee Ibrahim, 29, of Calgary, and Aidan Saunders, 29, of Cochrane. The men face a variety of charges, including possession of controlled substances for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.
Police say one accused was remanded in custody, while the other three were released pending future court appearances.
