The holdout juror in the high-profile mistrial of a Massachusetts woman who killed her three children gave his first televised interview to Fox News and defended his decision. Michael Desronvil said he thought Lindsay Clancy was “methodical,” not psychotic, in how she went about killing her young children before attempting to take her own life. “I had a lot of evidence to back up my claim,” he said. “But because out of respect of the other jurors in the court system, I will put that to sleep for now until, you know, they go through the process.”

The other 11 jurors voted not to hold Clancy criminally responsible for the killings because of mental health issues, and prosecutors are still determining whether to try her again. Some of the other jurors have publicly criticized Desronvil, and Clancy’s attorney has called for an investigation into his behavior during deliberations, including his alleged use of a phone. Though he didn’t elaborate much on his thinking, Desronvil did tell Fox that the police call made by Clancy’s husband affected him. “Hearing the pain in his voice, hearing the desperation from that clip—it was surreal,” he said.
