A 39-year-old man has been arrested on the suspicion of murder after a man was found dead in a caravan park.

Essex Police said it was called to the Valley Road Caravan Park, in Clacton-on-Sea, following reports of a man making threats at about 21:15 BST on Wednesday.

Officers said a man in his 40s, from Frinton-on-Sea, was found injured inside a caravan and pronounced dead at the scene.

The 39-year-old, from Ingatestone, was also arrested on suspicion of assaulting an emergency worker.

After his arrest he was taken to hospital for treatment to an injury to his hand.

Det Insp Tim Coyles said the force does not believe there was an ongoing risk to the wider public, adding: “My thoughts this morning are with the family of the man who died last night.”

He continued: “We will work tirelessly to get them the answers they need about what happened.

“We have already made good progress at building a picture of what took place and, at this stage, we believe both men were known to each other.

“I believe there will be a number of people who saw or heard something last night that may be helpful to our investigation and I urge them to come forward.”
