Langley RCMP are investigating a reported assault in a local parking lot.
On Wednesday, Oct. 21, at about 9 a.m., the Langley RCMP received a call about an assault in the 4800-block of 207 Street, said Cpl. Mansoor Sahak with the Langley RCMP.
A video, circulating on Facebook and Reddit, shows a woman shoving and slapping a man who appears to be a driving instructor, in what appears to be the Langley City Park parking lot.
“Go back to your country!” she says in the video.
The man shouts back that he was born here.
The woman seems upset that the driving instructor’s car is parked lengthwise across a couple of parking spaces. Aside from the woman’s car and the instructor’s car, the lot appears to be empty. He asks why she had to park in front of him.
The brief video was shared on multiple social media sites. On Reddit’s r/Langley subreddit, many commenters hoped the woman would be charged with assault and called her out for her comments to the driving instructor.
“Lady should be charged with assault. Her words and actions are disgusting,” one person wrote.
“The interaction is disturbing and in no way a reflection of the community as a whole,” said Sahak. “Langley RCMP are taking the report seriously and investigating the incident.”
Anyone who witnessed the incident and has not yet spoken to police is asked to call Langley RCMP and quote file #2026-33543.
