Celtic manager Martin O’Neill was spotted ‘absolutely raging’ during their game against Celta Vigo, and it’s no surprise.
After going a goal ahead in the second half, Celta Vigo found an equaliser after a free kick delivered into the box was converted by Javi Rodriguez.
It was a crucial blow for Celtic after they found the opener after a strong start to the second half.
O’Neill will undoubtedly have been disappointed with the way his side conceded from the free kick, with Sam Johnstone certainly able to do better.
Celtic had already endured a difficult start to their Europa League campaign, losing the opening match against Ferencváros before losing 4-1 to Benfica.
Defensively, Celtic have struggled, and that was the same story against Celta Vigo.
But it wasn’t his own players that O’Neill was fuming at during the game against Celta Vigo.
According to journalist Andy Burke, O’Neill was spotted ‘absolutely raging’ at the referee after he failed to give a foul on striker Camilo Duran before Celta scored.
Just moments after the referee failed to award Celtic a free kick, Celta received one of their own.
That’s when the ball was delivered into the box for Rodriguez to head home for the Spanish side.
O’Neill certainly has a case when arguing that Celtic should have been awarded a free kick in the moments before the Celta goal.
There was a clear foul on striker Duran, and it’s no surprise that the Celtic manager was furious with the referee.
It’s decisions like that that can have major impacts on games, although O’Neill will certainly be disappointed with his players too.
It was a disappointing goal to concede, with Johnstone undoubtedly able to do better with the header. Rodriguez was also afforded space in the box to get his header off before he found a second goal just a few moments later.

Celtic failed to recover after Rodriguez fired his second goal of the game into the back of the net.
O’Neill will be incredibly disappointed in how his side collapsed, and it was no surprise to see him walk straight down the tunnel after the game.
The Celtic manager looked deflated in and around the full-time whistle, but he’ll need to pick himself up as they face Hibs in a few days’ time.
That’s now three defeats from three games in the Europa League for Celtic, and qualifying for the next round is looking incredibly unlikely at the moment.
