Andre Onana was reportedly rushed to hospital after he was caught up in a terrifying high-speed car crash in Turkey. The goalkeeper, who is currently on loan at Trabzonspor from Manchester United, kept a clean sheet as they defeated Rangers in the Europa League on Thursday night. As he drove home, he was involved in a frightening incident that saw him taken to hospital for medical checks.

Another vehicle slammed into Onana’s car, which was also carrying his family, from behind while travelling at high speed. The impact caused the 30-year-old’s car to crash into the vehicle ahead of him, according to reports in Turkey.

The incident took place on the Yomra road, near the coastal city of Trabzon. Emergency services reportedly raced to the scene and Onana was taken to hospital, but discharged soon afterwards.

Trabzonspor president Ertugrul Dogan told local media: “Andre Onana was involved in a road traffic accident earlier this evening. There are no problems with him and we wish him a speedy recovery.”

Images from the scene appeared to show damage to the front bumper of Onana’s car, as well as debris strewn across the road.

The on-loan United stopper has emerged as a fan favourite at Trabzonspor, keeping four clean sheets in his last five appearances for the club.

He also spent the previous campaign with the Turkish giants, who decided to renew his loan spell for another season.

Onana was deemed surplus to requirements by United after his error-strewn display in their Carabao Cup defeat to Grimsby Town last season.

He joined the Red Devils in 2023, arriving from Inter Milan in a deal worth around £43.8million, and won the FA Cup in his first campaign at Old Trafford.

Onana, who has won over 50 caps for Cameroon since making his international debut in 2016, remains under contract at United until the summer of 2028.

It remains to be seen where he will play next season, given that he will only have a year remaining on his deal when the current campaign ends.
