Provincial police clocked a vehicle flying down Highway 417 on Thursday evening, prompting a serious stunt driving charge.
Officials said that they caught a car going 171 km/h in a 110 km/h zone.
Police said that the G2 driver behind the wheel was borrowing his mother’s car, which was impounded after the incident.
The driver faces a 30-day licence suspension, a $2,000 fine, six demerit points and a one-year driving prohibition upon conviction.

The same day, Ottawa police caught a 45-year-old man more than doubling the 60 km/h limit. Around 10:50 a.m. police clocked the vehicle travelling 131 km/h near Navan and Tenth Line Roads.
It comes as officials have been issuing pleas for people to slow down and follow the rules of the road. Thirty-two people have been killed this year on roadways, the highest in more than a decade.
Police are saying they’re seeing more road rage incidents, less patience and less empathy for community members.
