The chief executive of tech firm Astronomer has resigned following a viral video of him embracing his colleague at a Coldplay concert.

The tech firm said chief executive Andy Byron had tendered his resignation, and that the board of directors had accepted, Sky news reports.

“As stated previously, Astronomer is committed to the values and culture that have guided us since our founding,” the company said in a statement.

“Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met.

“The board will begin a search for our next chief executive as co-founder and chief product officer Pete DeJoy continues to serve as interim CEO.”

It comes after the pair appeared on the Coldplay kiss cam hugging each other during the week.

The video is said to have been filmed at the Gillette Stadium in Boston, US, with singer Chris, 48, and his bandmates having performed at the venue on Tuesday and Wednesday (July 15 & 16).

The gigs are part of their ongoing Music of the Spheres world tour, which will be heading to the UK later this year.
