Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said he ordered the Israeli military and Mossad intelligence agency to overthrow the Iranian regime.

“I instructed the Mossad and the IDF to bring down this regime, because that is the only way to put an end to this threat,” he said, speaking at the pro-government Channel 14. Responding to a report of tension between him and the head of the IDF, Netanyahu said “someone is trying to stir up a conflict,” citing warnings that “Iran is trying to interfere in the elections to bring me down.”

Earlier on Sunday, Channel 12 reported a conflict between the military and the prime minister over fears that Netanyahu may use the Iran war for campaign purposes. IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir reportedly warned that a recent order might spark a confrontation with Iran, demanding that Netanyahu sign off on it in writing.

Speaking on Channel 14, Netanyahu said, “This supposed rivalry between us is all nonsense,” attacking Channel 12 and saying, “I keep looking for the times when they report the truth. It almost never happens.”
