Thanks to his past three games, the German centre was named the first star of the week, the National Hockey League announced on Monday. In the three games that the Oilers played, he racked up six goals and nine points.
Leon Draisaitl, Devin Cooley and Jacob Fowler named “Three Stars” for the week ending Oct. 25.
3 Stars of the Week presented by @GEICO
Draisaitl is on a three-game multi-goal streak. In the Oilers’ 4-3 overtime victory over the Minnesota Wild, he scored two goals and was a minus-2. Two days later, the Oilers defeated the reigning Stanley Cup champions, the Carolina Hurricanes. In that game, Draisaitl scored twice and picked up three assists, his best game of the week. And in their 7-2 loss on Saturday, Draisaitl scored both their goals and was a minus-2.
Through the Oilers’ 11 games, Draisaitl has scored 12 goals, second most in the league behind Wild forward Kirill Kaprizov, who has 13. Draisaitl has also added 11 assists, giving him 23 points, second-most in the league.
Draisaitl has scored in nine of the 11 games they’ve played this season and has scored at least one goal in his past six games. That’s not his longest streak, though, as he scored in a second consecutive game twice, doing so in December 2023 and January 2025.
This also isn’t the first time Draisaitl has notched three multi-goal games consecutively. Back in 2020-21, he scored two goals in three consecutive games from May 4 until May 8, all three games coming against the Canucks.
The other two stars this week also play for Canadian-based teams. Calgary Flames’ netminder Devin Cooley posted a .971 save percentage as the Flames went 2-0. Montréal Canadiens netminder Jacob Fowler won both games he played in as well, posting a .964 save percentage.
