President Donald Trump returned to the campaign trail this month to stump for Republicans in the midterms, holding rallies every day. And just about as often, he has made impromptu comments about the physical attractiveness of other men.
The reality TV star turned president has always valued looks, often assessing potential appointees by whether they appear to come from “central casting.” The recent comments have stood out for their frequency and specificity.
Advisers say Trump is in on the joke. “It’s definitely got everyone talking,” one said.
Vice President JD Vance joined in the bit when noting that Rep. Ryan Zinke (R-Montana) welcomed him to a rally in Belgrade, Montana, on Monday by complimenting his blue eyes. “We’re not afraid; we’re self-confident in the Trump-Vance administration,” Vance said. “The president’s been noticing a lot about the physiques of everybody lately,” he added to laughter from the crowd.
