Seized herbal cannabis at Rosslare Europort

A man (50s) has been arrested by gardaí following the seizure of drugs worth more than €3 million on a truck that travelled by ferry from Spain at Rosslare Europort yesterday.

There were approximately 150.6kg of suspected herbal cannabis found with an estimated value of €3,012,000.

The drugs were discovered as a result of routine profiling, when a truck that had disembarked a ferry from Bilbao, Spain, was stopped and searched at Rosslare Europort, Co Wexford, a spokesperson for Revenue said.

Following the search, the drugs were seized by the Revenue officers.

The arrested man is currently detained at a garda station in Co Wexford.

Gardaí and Revenue said the investigations are ongoing, as this operation is part of Revenue’s work targeting smuggling and shadow economy activity.
