Worrell is recording career-best returns for disposals, marks and metres gained in 2025

Adelaide’s backline will be in safe hands for years to come thanks to a contract extension confirmed for Josh Worrell.

The 24-year-old, who was already contracted until the end of 2027, has extended by a further six years.

The deal, which will take him beyond free agency, ensures Worrell remains a Crow until at least the end of 2033.

Worrell is recording career-best returns for disposals, marks and metres gained in 2025 and is a staple of one of the competition’s strongest defensive units.

Despite the next two years already locked in, Worrell jumped at the chance to extend at West Lakes.

“To say it was a quick process would be an understatement,” Worrell said.

“I had two years left on my contract, but I really couldn’t imagine playing anywhere else.

“I love where this Club is heading, I love my teammates and I love this city… Adelaide is where I want to be for the long-term.”

Crows General Manager List Management Justin Reid expected Worrell to be a key pillar of Adelaide’s defence for years to come.

“Josh is having another outstanding year for us down back,” Reid said.

“His development over the past two seasons has been so impressive and we’ve watched him grow into one of the top intercept defenders in the competition.

“The buy-in and belief we have from Josh and our playing group as a whole has been fantastic.”
