PORT Adelaide has wasted little time making change in the post Ken Hinkley era, with Ryan Burton and Jeremy Finlayson among five players delisted by the Power.

With new coach Josh Carr officially taking the reins after Hinkley’s departure, Burton and Finlayson have been informed they will not be offered new deals, while Dylan Williams, Lachie Charleson and Hugh Jackson have also been let go.

Williams played 29 games in four seasons, 21 of which came in 2023, while midfielder Jackson played nine games, all this year.

Charleson did not play a senior game in two years on the list.

The 28-year-old Burton and 29-year-old Finlayson both joined the Power from rival clubs.

Burton arrived after three seasons at Hawthorn for the 2019 season and Finlayson crossed from Greater Western Sydney at the end of 2021.

Burton’s career stalled amid frequent injuries with the half-back playing only eight senior games this season. The 162-gamer suffered a knee injury in round 16 and didn’t feature again.

Finlayson, who also played just eight AFL games this year for a career total of 128, fell from selection favour amid an inconsistent season.

“Ryan and Jeremy have both, at times, played important roles for our AFL side, offering versatility and depth when we’ve required it,” list manager Jason Cripps said.

“Dylan and Hugh showed some positive development over the past few years, with both earning opportunities at the top level, while Lachie was a solid contributor to our SANFL program and showed great commitment to the club in his two years on the list.

“We wish all five players the very best for their futures.”

Their departures open up further list spots at Port, which has farewelled retiring club legend Travis Boak.

Ex-Adelaide and Gold Coast utility Rory Atkins, who joined the Power this season, has also retired.

The future of Ivan Soldo at Port is also in doubt after the ruckman played just once at AFL-level this season.

Soldo transferred from Richmond where he featured in the Tigers’ 2019 premiership on a three-year contract that expires at the end of next season.

But the 29-year-old unsuccessfully sought a trade at the end of last season after falling behind Jordon Sweet as the Power’s first-choice ruck.
