A Ryanair flight has had to be grounded at Manchester Airport after a passenger tried to ‘open an emergency exit’ mid-air, according to a witness on the plane.
Fellow passengers attempted to stop the woman and alerted cabin crew, who then brought in the flight’s captain, the eyewitness continued.
The passenger was removed from the emergency exit seat and the captain had to remain by the exit.
The plane was landed and the woman involved was ‘escorted off the plane by Greater Manchester Police’, said the fellow passenger.
Engineers were then brought on to inspect the damage, and replace parts, according the witness.

“The passenger was moved from the emergency exit seat and the captain remained at the emergency exit until we landed back at Manchester Airport.
“The plane landed safely and the passenger involved was escorted off the plane by Greater Manchester Police.
