INJURED Limerick hurling star Kyle Hayes was supporting his club mates in their Whitebox Property Developments Ltd county senior hurling championship clash with Mungret St Paul’s from the sideline on Friday evening.
Five-time All-Ireland senior medal winner Hayes has been out of action since picking up an unfortunate injury during his club Kildimo-Pallaskenry’s round two championship clash with Newcastle West earlier this month.
Hayes, who was substituted in that game as a result of the injury, is understood to have sustained damage to a vertebrae in his neck.

After 17 minutes into the game on August 8, Hayes sustained the injury following a red card incident.
Play was halted for around five minutes in Sean Finn Park, Rathkeale as Hayes lay on the ground in visible discomfort.Â
Medics assisted by some of the Kildimo-Pallaskenry mentors helped him from the field of play.
The 2024 All-Star did not return to the action for Kildimo-Pallaskenry for the duration of that game but remained on the sideline, watching the remainder of the game on his feet.Â
Concerns mounted over that weekend after a photo was circulated online of the 27-year-old lying on a hospital bed wearing a neckbrace, in his club jersey.
“He’s made of tough stuff, he got back on his feet and watched the remainder of the game from the sidelines. It was only that evening he went to hospital. Hopefully he’ll be back in action before too long as nobody wants to see a player of his calibre out of action with a nasty injury,” said one local.
The five-time All-Star winner supported his club mates from the sideline on Friday evening last during their Round 4 clash with Mungret St Paul’s at Clarina.
After an evenly-contested opening half, the sides retired to the dressing room tied at 0-6 each.
However, Mungret St Paul’s then moved ahead in the second half to secure a comfortable 1-18 to 0-10 victory.
Hayes’ absence from the field of play has been sorely felt by his club who have suffered defeats in their last two round robin fixtures.
Fifth-placed Kildimo-Pallaskenry will complete their programme of group fixtures against Monaleen in September.
