ALCOA, Tenn. — A pastor with ties to the Chattanooga died in a cycling accident in Alcoa Tuesday, according to police.

The Alcoa Police Department says the crash happened around 7:54 a.m. on East Hunt Road at North Wright Road.

Police say a cyclist, Rowland Buck, collided with an 18-wheeler. He was rushed to UT Medical Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Buck is currently the pastor at St. Mark’s Global Methodist Church in Louisville, Tennessee. In a statement, the church says…

“It is with a heavy heart that I share with our St. Mark’s family and friends that on Tuesday, August 26th our Pastor Rowland Buck was called home to heaven after an accident with his bicycle. Arrangements are being handled by the family and will be shared as soon as possible. Please keep Sinda and the family in your prayers!”

According to Buck’s LinkedIn page, he served as the lead pastor for Burks United Methodist Church in Hixson from 2012 to 2016.

He was also the pastor at Signal Crest United Methodist in Signal Mountain from 2016 to 2018.

Buck began serving at St. Mark’s Global Methodist Church in 2019.
