Five Gunnedah players were among 32 from around the state to compete in the under 10 (U10) national tennis qualifiers in Parramatta last weekend, with four national spots on offer.
Adalie Muddle and Millie Lyle won their first-round matches 6-3 and 6-4 respectively, while Charli Scott defeated Belle Nichols in a tiebreaker as these two Gunnedah competitors went head-to-head.
Adalie, Millie and Charli subsequently went down 6-0 in their second-round matches, as they faced very tough opponents.
Lachlan Finnerty had a cracking start as he won his first and second round matches 6-0, before going down 6-3 and narrowly missing out on a national spot while finishing in the top eight in the state.
The Gunnedah contingent played with integrity, showed great sportsmanship and never gave up.
