The new season begins, and Partizan Mozzart Bet president Ostija Mijailovic gave a lengthy interview to Mozzart Sport, providing some interesting details about the team’s future.
“We have signed a contract with a large car company from China, as well as with a global platform. We are the vanguard”, he said, as Partizan also unveiled its own streaming service, “Part+” which will provide exclusive video and the streaming of prep games to the subscribers.
“At the end of last season, we did a great deal by signing a three-year contract with the Euroleague,” explained Mijailovic, then added: “We kept the existing roster, we extended the contracts of some players for a year or two because now we have the possibility of a long-term plan. This season, implementation is easier. It’s about the Euroleague. We’re missing one or two positions; we have some players under contract that we think need to find a compromise, and we’ll see what else we’re missing”.
Mijailovic also talked about the structure of Partizan and the financial situation of the club: “Everyone in Europe recognizes that Partizan has a system that works. We operate as the most modern company. Anyone who leaves Partizan can work in any multinational company, and for me, that is, first and foremost, the success of a system. I can freely say that we have paid all our obligations to our suppliers, all salaries to our players, and we do not owe a single dinar in taxes. And we are a club that has a European budget at its disposal. For us, the trip to Australia will be very tiring because we will be in a preparatory period, but it is very important. My wish was for the club to become international; we need to promote Partizan on all continents. I think Melbourne will be full, I’m not sure about Sydney. It is very important to show our basketball brand to people on the other side of the planet.”
And due to the European Water Polo Championship, Partizan will also play during the season three EuroLeague home games outside Serbian borders and wants to make them an event: “We are forced to play three games outside the Arena. We are looking for big basketball cities that have our fans in the diaspora. We are thinking about Vienna, Munich, and another city that I don’t want to mention because the possibility of playing there is not yet certain. Our idea is to play a game with Olympiakos on the Serbian New Year in Vienna, where our large diaspora lives. The city authorities have shown that they want to help us with that. I will have talks with them at the end of the month. “We will know in a month where we will play those games”.
