Olivia Colman brought her signature elegance to London this evening for the premiere of The Roses at the Odeon Luxe Leicester Square.

The actress chose an Elie Saab Fall 2023 kaftan gown, and the silhouette was everything you’d expect from the designer—fluid, graceful, and timeless. The green hue was striking against her complexion, adding a regal quality to the overall effect.
But here’s where I’m torn. For the first time, I found myself distracted not by the cut or colour of an Elie Saab gown, but by the fabric. It looked oddly flimsy, particularly around the open sleeves, where the drape didn’t quite live up to the usual standards. I hesitate to even use the word, but yes—the fabric looks a little cheap.
That said, Olivia herself still looked beautiful. Her softly styled hair, the breathtaking jewellery, and, most importantly, her confidence elevated the entire ensemble. Even when the fabric falters, Olivia’s poise and presence make you focus on her, not the flaws.
In the end, she proved what we all know: sometimes the wearer can outshine the dress. And tonight, Olivia Colman certainly did.
