With the Broncos and Sharks breathing down their neck the One New Zealand Warriors can’t afford a slip-up in a must-win clash against the enigmatic Eels at Go Media Stadium tonight.
Andrew Webster’s men sit fourth on 34 competition points and have the double chance within their grasp provided they can maintain their intensity in the final two matches.
They’ll have the support of another jam-packed crowd – the match was sold out a week in advance – including a big cast of former players who have gathered for the club’s annual old boys’ round.
In Parramatta they confront a dangerous opponent capable of piling on plenty of points with Mitch Moses free-wheeling in attack and Zac Lomax and Josh Addo-Carr adding the finishing touches.
The Eels have endured a disappointing season but with wins over the Roosters, Broncos and Cowboys in the past five games they have shown that Jason Ryles is on the right track for a revival in 2026.
Team news
One New Zealand Warriors: Tanner Stowers-Smith has been named on the bench but could come into the starting side on game day, as was the case last week. If that happens, Demitric Vaimauga will likely revert to the interchange. Sam Healey and Kalani Going remained in the squad when it was trimmed to 19 on Thursday.
Eels:Â Josh Addo-Carr is set to play his 200th NRL game as he continues his quest for a Kangaroos recall for the upcoming Ashes series. Sean Russell has been listed at 18th man as he looks to return from a hand injury suffered in Round 22. No changes in Thursday’s 24-hour update with Russell and Toni Mataele remaining in the squad.
