Raising money for a good cause will be the name of the game at the Gunnedah Golf Club on Sunday, as Rotary Club of Gunnedah West stages its annual charity golf day.
Proceeds will go to local charities including PCYC Gunnedah, Yallambee, CanAssist, Ronald McDonald House, Friendly Faces Helping Hands, Gunnedah Eisteddfod, Westpac Rescue Helicopter, Community Scholarship, Pink Up Gunnedah, Ooranga and Men’s Toiletries Drive, as well as the Australian Rotary Health: Mental Health Research (ARH-MHR).
Participants will be in groups of four while the format options are a 4-Ball Ambrose and a 4-Ball Versus Par, with a shotgun start at 10.30am.
A barbecue lunch will also be on offer.
There will be men, ladies, mixed and non-golfer events as well as novelty events, while the winner receives the Ian Carrington Memorial Perpetual Trophy.
Since its inception in 1997, the event has raised more than $110,000 to the charitable distributions of Rotary Club of Gunnedah West.
The perpetual trophy became part of the event following the suicide of former Rotary Club of Gunnedah West president Ian Carrington in 2003.
In 2012, the club adopted a standing order that half of the profits from the charity golf day would support mental health research through donation to ARH-MHR.
The cost to enter the charity golf day is $30 per person, while enquiries can be made at the Gunnedah Golf Club.
