Renewables investors and climate groups have warned Labor that setting a range for its 2035 emissions reduction target could undermine the investment certainty needed to fund the transition unless it is narrowly defined and backed by concrete policies.
The government is set to announce its 2035 emissions commitment in September, once it has officially received the advice of the Climate Change Authority. The CCA has previously consulted industry on potential emissions cuts of between 65 and 75 per cent.
